Are owners allowed in the echocardiogram room?
No. Owners won’t be admitted into the echocardiogram room. We know that can feel stressful, but your pet will be handled with lots of care and safe restraint the whole time.

How much does the screening cost, and what’s included?
The screening is $275 per pet and includes an exam plus a screening echocardiogram. A report will be emailed to you after the clinic. If you want an OFA Advanced Cardiac Database application, it’s $40 extra per pet.

How do I pay?
Payment is made through our website. You can pay in full (preferred) or pay a deposit to secure your spot. If you choose a deposit, the remaining balance is due before your pet is seen and can be paid by cash or Zelle.

How do I sign up?
You may go to the "Upcoming Clinics" page, select the clinic you want to participate in, and sign up each pet separately with payment.

Will I meet with the cardiologist during the clinic?
This is a fast-paced screening clinic, so you won’t meet with the cardiologist directly. He will perform the echocardiogram and email you a report with the findings/diagnosis (if any). No treatments or medications are dispensed at this clinic.

What if my pet won’t stay still (or needs sedation)?
Your pet needs to lie on their side and stay fairly still so we can get good images (some large dogs may be done standing). If your pet is anxious, we highly encourage you to contact your primary care veterinarian to prescribe gabapentin and/or trazodone for you to administer 2 hours prior to the visit. If we can’t complete the screening due to movement, you’ll need to reschedule a full cardiology appointment later. No refunds will be provided if your pet is too anxious and we are unable to complete the echocardiogram.
